Teen Counseling

Adolescence is an exciting time, but it can also be overwhelming, and sometimes even scary for both you and your teen. Your teen is test-driving his or her self-perceptions, caught between the safety and fun of being a kid and the responsibility and freedom of being a grown-up.

The push and pull can cause your child emotional struggles that may leave you feeling frustrated and confused by your teen, wondering how you can not only streamline the transition, but also minimize your own feelings of anxiety and doubt.

In therapy, your teen will learn to better communicate emotional needs, gain self-confidence, establish safe boundaries in both friendships and romantic relationships, and identify values and priorities.

Some issues I work with include, but are not limited to:

  • Family conflict
  • Depression
  • Self Harm and risk taking behaviors
  • Anxiety
  • Self Image and insecurity
  • College/Future stress and planning
  • Grief and loss
  • Processing parental separations and divorce
  • Lack of motivation and goal setting
  • Foster/Adoption Issues

F.L.Y. First Love Yourself: A group for teen girls

This group combines education and experience to help teens learn healthy and safe coping skills. Through the support of a small (4-8 girls), trustworthy group, led by myself, teens can explore, understand and work through problems while sharing their experiences with others. The group will teach the differences between positive and negative ways of coping, and will help expand choices and overcome obstacles that get in the way of personal development.

  • This group is offered every time 5 girls are interested.
  • Times and locations vary.
  • Please email me for information on the upcoming group!
